From Sir David Attenborough

One month ago we received an incredibly special letter in the post. It was from none other than Sir David Attenborough himself. It’s not often that our post box is graced by such valuable letters, so when this one arrived we were in shock and awe, which we imagine many people would be too.

Let’s give you some back story to this…

We, Susan and Keeley, have both been admirers of Sir David Attenborough’s work for a long time, especially his series ‘The Wild Isles’. It had come up many times in conversation and how perhaps we should send a set of notecards as a thank you for all of the work that he has shared with the world. So, that’s what we did. Whilst Susan was out of the studio for a few days, Keeley prepared a bundle box of 40 notecards, each personalised with Sir David Attenborough’s name. Originally we’d discussed sending him the puffins because of what fabulous creatures they are and the wonderful footage that his shows have displayed. But having rewatched the series previously mentioned, Keeley realised that Susan has painted quite the selection of British wildlife, so why not create a truly bespoke box.

The personalised set contained our Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout, Grouse, Hare, Red Deer, Robin, and of course the Puffins. A set that encapsulates a wide variety of creatures who make their home here in the British Isles, many of whom feature across the series. Wrapped and packaged like all of our stationery, Sir David Attenborough got the full Susel & Co experience, along with a lengthy letter of thanks and appreciation.

Now we’re not sure how many of you have written to someone famous before, but as many of us would think, it’s unlikely that you’ll get a response. But less than a week later, there arrived our short but incredible letter from Sir David.

The letter reads: ‘Dear Keeley and Susan. It is most kind of you to send me packets of your elegant notepaper. Thank you. Best wishes, David Attenborough.’

While Keeley knew that the stationery had been sent, it was a complete surprise for Susan, who knew nothing until Keeley presented her with the letter and told all. We are incredibly grateful that Sir David took the time to write back to us, for his kind words, and his letter will be proudly displayed on our studio wall.

All of the designs that made up the personalised box are available to purchase via the links below, and we will be producing a British Wildlife inspired set very soon.
